Adopt-a-Hive
Adopt-a-Hive: One Family Experience, Three Honey Shares
Name a hive, follow its season and learn with Mark. Limited family places, three honey shares and one bee-first experience.

MORE THAN A HONEY ORDER
Adopt-a-Hive is an invitation to become part of a beekeeping season. The honey matters, of course. But so does the first time a child notices pollen on a returning bee, the story behind a named hive, and the connection between a family, a beekeeper and the land around them. This is a small, personal program—not a mass subscription.
Every family receives the same experience. The choice is how much honey suits your household, not how much attention you deserve. Limited annual hives let Mark keep the visits and updates personal. The aim is a feel-good way to meet your community, learn something real and support bee-first beekeeping without making family participation feel out of reach.
WHAT YOUR FAMILY SEASON INCLUDES
• Name and paint your hive. • Keep a family adoption certificate. • Follow four photo updates through the season. • Join scheduled Sunday visits with Mark. • Receive a Community Honey Day invitation. • Collect your selected honey share at the October handoff.
Visits are scheduled, not unrestricted access to an apiary. Bees are livestock with changing moods and seasonal needs; weather, colony conditions and safe handling come first. Children take part with their parent or guardian. You can learn plenty by watching an entrance without opening a brood nest.
CHOOSE YOUR OCTOBER HONEY
Family Tier 1: 12 × 500 ml jars — $200/year Family Tier 2: 12 × 1 kg jars — $250/year Family Tier 3: 6 × 3 kg honey buckets — $350/year
Tier 1 is twelve smaller jars for enjoying and sharing. Tier 2 is twelve full-kilo jars for a household that uses honey regularly. Tier 3 is eighteen kilograms in six buckets for baking, preserving and generous sharing. A 500 ml jar describes volume, not a promised one-kilogram weight; the other two shares are sold by their stated weight.
This is one family season with three shares. No family tier loses the certificate, visits or updates. Your selected honey share is guaranteed even if the named hive is lost or has a lean year. The adoption follows a hive’s story; the honey commitment does not require that every jar comes from that exact colony. Mark manages the apiary’s harvest around the bees’ needs and the agreement.
HELPING THE BEES MEANS PUTTING THEM FIRST
The 3H standard is Happy, Healthy and Heavy. Happy means room to forage, build and behave naturally. Healthy means strong populations, locally adapted survivor genetics and honest observations—not simply the absence of treatments. Heavy means a substantial surplus only after abundant winter honey stays with the bees.
Family support helps sustain that work and youth learning. It is not a claim that adoption alone reverses pollinator decline or a promise of an unconfirmed charity donation. The concrete value is a season of connection, a named hive to follow and a beekeeper who can explain his decisions.
The propolis envelope—the thin resin lining bees build on the inside of their home—is part of that story. We preserve it as a supporting part of their social immune environment. We do not claim it kills mites or guarantees survival. Families get an honest account of a living colony, not a fairy tale in which nothing ever goes wrong.
EXCLUSIVE, BUT WELCOMING
Limited annual places keep this personal. This season’s loose honey is a limited harvest; the family program is the way to arrange a committed share for next season. Joining an interest list does not create a reservation, and there is no claim that a place is available until Mark confirms it.
Family interest is open now through March 2027, subject to availability. Register your preferred share, ask your questions and let Mark confirm a place. He sends the agreement; payment follows by cash or e-transfer after signing. There is no online checkout for adoption.
BUSINESS SUPPORT IS SEPARATE
Business Sponsorship starts with a custom team package from $1,000. It is not a fourth family tier and does not replace the family experience. Land for Bees is also a separate conversation for people with suitable space to host colonies.
